Welcome to Ha Giang Experts

Where dreams of travel turn into a real journey — complete with the sound of the wind, the smell of the earth and a heart beating faster on every bend.

We specialise in motorbike and self-drive car tours as well as water activities, hiking and more — from spectacular mountain passes to the tracks that run through the villages, across some of the most beautiful landscapes in Ha Giang and the northern mountain provinces. Every trip is built on the three things we believe make a journey worth remembering: real adventure, real local culture, and real companionship — the things that stay with you long after the wheels stop turning.

We don’t stand on the sidelines. We ride every kilometre with you.

At the heart of Ha Giang Experts is a passion that never cools: a passion for discovery and a love of the road. We believe the best way to connect with the world is to step right inside it — to feel the wind on your face at the top of a pass, to hear a khèn pipe drifting across an early-morning market, to sit by the fire with people you have only just met and already feel close to.

Our team is made up of seasoned riders and true travel addicts — people who know which bend turns slippery after rain, which village is in the middle of the harvest, and exactly when to pull over so you can watch the mist lift off the valley. With more than 30 years of leading self-drive tours across Vietnam, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Europe and South America, we understand the subtleties of adventure travel that no guidebook ever puts into words.

We are not just guides. We are your companions on every road — always ready to share their knowledge, their stories and their love for every place we ride through together.

RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL

Environmental responsibility: We are committed to protecting the environment in the places we take our guests. Our tours are designed to minimise their impact on the ecosystem, and we take part directly in conservation work to preserve these natural landscapes for future generations.

Environmentally friendly practice: We prioritise sustainable practice across everything we do — from choosing lower-emission vehicles and reducing waste to promoting responsible travel.

AUTHENTIC EXPERIENCES

Exploration and discovery: We believe adventure has the power to change people. Our tours encourage guests to explore new landscapes, new cultures and new experiences — and through them to connect more deeply with the world around them.

Adventure for everyone: We work to bring the experience of adventure within reach of everyone, with a range of activities suited to every level and every starting point.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP

Working with local partners: We place great value on working with local communities: we hire local guides and support local businesses. Thanks to those relationships, our tours bring real benefit to the very places the group visits.

Respect for culture: We place a high value on understanding and respecting local culture and customs. Our tours encourage meaningful exchanges that benefit both the traveller and the host community.

YOU ARE AT THE CENTRE

Personalised experiences: We focus on service quality, tailoring each tour to the needs and preferences of every guest. Our aim is to create trips that are memorable and genuinely rewarding.

Safety and wellbeing: We put our guests’ safety and wellbeing first. Thorough safety procedures are applied throughout so that every trip is both reassuring and complete.

WHO IS HA GIANG EXPERTS?

Ha Giang Experts is a travel company specialising in mountain tours. Discover the landscapes, nature, culture and ethnic minority communities of the north by car and by motorbike. We build genuine community-based tourism projects — eating in the village, sleeping in the village — working hand in hand with ethnic minority communities to give our guests the fullest possible experience while creating a livelihood for local families. Founded by a team of partners together with Tuấn Nguyễn, a self-drive travel specialist with more than 30 years of experience organising motorbike and off-road car tours in Vietnam, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, Europe and South America, and the founder of  MotoTours Asia.

We don’t follow the crowd around the Ha Giang Loop. We take the small roads — the side tracks through forest and mountain that link the H’Mông villages, the winding climbs across the Dao terraces — where the real journey begins.

Why choose Ha Giang Experts

Choosing Ha Giang Experts means stepping into an adventure quite unlike an ordinary trip. Here is why you should take to the road with us:

1. Guides who know the ground

Our team is made up of highly experienced riders and passionate travellers who bring deep knowledge to every journey. Our guides know each route inside out and are always ready to share the details of local culture, history and customs that give the trip its depth.

2. Tailor-made experiences

We know every rider is different, so our tours are built to suit a range of abilities and interests. Whether you have been riding for years or are just starting out, there is an option that lets you enjoy the road.

3. Spectacular destinations

From the vivid landscapes of Ha Giang in northern Vietnam to the soaring peaks of Tibet and the wide emptiness of Central Asia, our tours take you to some of the most beautiful places on earth. Every destination is chosen with care for the experience it offers and the views it delivers.

4. Safety first

Your safety is our first concern. Before every tour we run a full safety briefing and provide good-quality equipment for the journey ahead. A support vehicle travels with the group, carrying luggage and helping out whenever needed, so you can simply enjoy the ride.

5. Connection and friendship

At Ha Giang Experts we believe adventures mean more when they are shared. Small groups create real bonds between riders. You will come away with lasting friendships built on the stories, the laughter and the experiences you shared on the road.

6. Cultural exchange

Our tours are not only about the ride; they are about meaningful cultural experiences too. You will taste local food and learn about customs and everyday life as you meet the communities along the way. We aim for a balanced journey that leaves you understanding and appreciating each place a little more.

7. A commitment to sustainable development

We are committed to responsible travel. Our tours are designed around sustainability, respect and the protection of the environment in every place the group passes through.

8. A fully organised journey

We take care of everything, from route planning to accommodation, so the trip runs smoothly. The itinerary balances adventure with rest, so you can enjoy the journey without worrying about the logistics.

9. Unforgettable memories

With Ha Giang Experts you don’t simply take a trip — you create memories that stay with you for life. The feel of the bike, the beauty of the landscape and the people you meet will remain long after the journey ends.

10. A passion for the road

Above all, we genuinely love motorcycles and adventure. That love of the open road is what drives us to build high-quality trips and to inspire more people to discover the world on two wheels.

Choose Ha Giang Experts for an adventure worth remembering, where the thrill of riding meets the joy of discovery. Come with us and see why this is a different kind of experience.

Our mission

“UNLOCKING POTENTIAL, BUILDING COMMUNITIES”

What we see in Ha Giang

Tourism in Ha Giang has grown very fast in recent years, but almost all of it is concentrated on a handful of sights and one main loop. Visitors pile into the same places while most of the remote villages remain off the tourist map. Out there the landscape is still intact and the culture still strong, yet hardly anyone knows about them — and local people have gained nothing from the growth going on around them.

What we do

Ha Giang Experts wants to be first on the ground, opening the way for guests to reach exactly those untouched villages.

We don’t bring guests in to look and leave. We work directly with the villagers: training and coaching families in how to run tourism — welcoming guests, cooking, hygiene, food safety, and how to present their own way of life and traditional crafts.

Our guests eat and sleep in family homes and share daily life with their hosts. Every trip therefore puts income directly into those households, creating additional livelihoods and helping the local ethnic minority communities develop economically where they live.

Dân tộc Lào

Our business philosophy

THE BUSINESS PHILOSOPHY OF HA GIANG EXPERTS

We do this in one clear way: take guests to places few people know, work alongside the people who live there, and keep intact the very thing that drew us in. The six principles below govern every decision the company makes, from choosing a route to buying a beam of timber.

1. Sustainable development and protecting the environment

Running green, day to day Ha Giang is beautiful because it is still intact. We keep it that way through specific things, done daily rather than as a campaign:

  • No single-use plastic on tour or at Ha Giang Hub; every guest receives a refillable water bottle
  • Herbal-based shampoo, shower gel and cleaning products
  • A natural swimming pool filtered by aquatic plants — no chlorine, no chemicals
  • Waste water treated to standard before it returns to the ground, never discharged into ponds or lakes
  • Solar power and small hydro run the pumping system and the waterfall
  • An organic farm at the Hub supplies most of the produce for the restaurant
  • Bungalows rebuilt from villagers’ old stilt-house frames with palm-leaf roofs — local materials, reused on the spot

Protecting nature and water sources Forests, terraced fields and headwater streams are what sustain this whole region — not tourism alone. Before every trip, guests are briefed on a few simple but important rules: carry your rubbish out of the village, don’t pick forest plants, keep the noise down when riding through grazing and farming land, and keep your distance from villagers’ livestock. We also work with our partner villages to collect litter along the route and keep the village water sources clean.

We don’t make our commitment in percentages. We make it through the things listed above — done properly, done every day, and open for guests to check for themselves when they arrive.

2. Adventure and discovery

Real experiences We don’t send guests chasing the overcrowded loop. Our routes are forest tracks, the trails that link the H’Mông hamlets, the climbs across the Dao terraced fields — places where daily life carries on as it always has rather than being staged for visitors. Guests eat in family kitchens, sleep on the wooden floor of a stilt house, and go home with what actually happened rather than a list of check-in spots.

Adventure for everyone You don’t have to be a veteran rider. We run several levels of trip: easy roads for beginners, tours with your own driver if you would rather ride pillion and watch the mountains go by, and technical trails for experienced riders. We talk through skills and fitness with every group before departure so the route fits — challenging enough to be memorable, safe enough to come home and tell the story.

3. Community partnership

Working with local people Our guides are local people. Food is bought at the weekly market and from village households. Guests sleep in family homes, not in guesthouses built for tourists. Money is paid straight to each household — no middlemen, no hidden commissions.

We train our partner villages free of charge: welcoming guests, hygiene, food safety, simple booking management. Our specialists travel to each village to run the training on site and work alongside the families until they can run it themselves.

Respect for culture We don’t stage culture for the camera. Before every trip, guests are briefed on the do’s and don’ts of entering a village, a home or a festival — ask before photographing people, dress appropriately, respect the family altar and the private areas of the house. When both sides meet on the right terms, guest and host each get more out of it.

4. Putting the customer first

Service tailored to you Groups are capped at 6–8 guests. That number is not a commercial limit but the condition that lets us do this properly: small enough to adapt the route to each rider’s ability, small enough for a village to host the group without being disrupted. Before departure we talk to every guest about what they want — a riding challenge or an unhurried look at the mountains, photography or food — and then adjust the route, the stops and the overnight stays to match.

Safety and comfort Safety is the one thing we never compromise on:

  • Guides hold a national tour-guide licence, a minimum of 2 years’ off-road riding experience and a first-aid certificate, with refresher training every quarter
  • A minimum ratio of 1 guide per 8 guests — never lower
  • Bikes are mechanically checked before every departure; helmets, protective gear and communication devices are provided for each guest
  • A support vehicle travels with the group, carrying luggage and helping when needed
  • Every route has a bad-weather contingency plan and a medical plan

On comfort: village homes are real homes, simple ones — but we work with our hosts to make sure the sleeping area is clean, the bedding dry, the bathroom usable and hot water available.

5. Continuous improvement

We ask our guests for feedback after every trip — and we ask our host families too, because a journey is only good when both sides are happy with it. Anything that fell short is fixed on the next departure: a different stop, a more relaxed schedule, a replacement for a section that proved too demanding, meals adjusted to international palates while staying true to the local dish.

We also survey new routes continuously and approach promising villages before opening a tour, so our network of partner villages grows year by year — steadily, never in a rush.

6. Health and balance

Travel to disconnect In many of the villages we visit the phone signal comes and goes, and the evening is lit by the cooking fire. Most guests find it strange at first and feel lighter a few hours later. We leave it that way instead of papering over it — because a few days away from a screen is one of the most valuable things this journey gives you.

Movement and recovery Riding mountain passes, walking into villages, wading streams, climbing terraces — your body genuinely moves instead of sitting behind glass. At the end of the journey, Ha Giang Hub offers a natural swimming pool, a Dao herbal bath house and a lakeside rest area to recover in before you head home.

Conclusion

The Ha Giang Experts philosophy stands on four legs: sustainable development, real adventure, community partnership and guest satisfaction. We believe a good trip has to be good for both sides — the guest gets a journey worth remembering, while the land and the people it passes through keep what makes them who they are and live better for it.

That is why we do this work the harder, slower way — and it is the only way we find worth doing.
