- By air: Dien Bien Phu has direct flights to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City:
- Three flights a day from Hanoi: two operated by Vietnam Airlines and one by Vietjet, flight time 36 minutes
- One flight a day from Ho Chi Minh City, operated by Vietjet, flight time 2 hours 15 minutes
- By road:
- FROM HANOI: Dien Bien Phu is 450 km from Hanoi by road. A wide choice of sleeper buses, cabin buses and high-quality limousines leave from My Dinh, Giap Bat and Nuoc Ngam bus stations, following Highway 6 through Hoa Binh and Son La provinces to Dien Bien. Departures from Hanoi run between 19:00 and 21:00 and arrive in Dien Bien Phu between 05:00 and 07:00 the following morning. In the other direction, buses leave Dien Bien Phu between 19:00 and 21:00 and reach Hanoi between 05:00 and 07:00 the next morning.
