5:30 AM: Arrive in Lao Cai as dawn breaks, bidding farewell to Vietnam. Cross the Hekou border into China, a land of new experiences. After completing entry procedures, test your skills obtaining a temporary Chinese driver’s license.

Afternoon: Savor lunch before embarking on a high-speed train journey. First, speed towards Kunming, arriving at 5:55 PM at the bustling Kunming South Station. Catch your connecting high-speed train, the G2848, whisking you away to the captivating city of Dali by 8:36 PM.

Evening: Settle into your Dali hotel, the excitement of the journey ahead mixing with the pleasant fatigue of travel.

Fuel up with breakfast and prepare to experience the magic of Dali from the seat of your motorbike. Explore the city’s ancient streets and soak in its unique charm. Enjoy a delicious lunch, savoring the flavors of Yunnan province.

Embark on a scenic 3-hour ride to Lijiang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its well-preserved ancient architecture. Wind through picturesque landscapes, the air alive with the anticipation of discovery.

Evening: Check into your Lijiang hotel and set off on foot to explore the city’s enchanting old town. As evening descends, gather for a special welcome dinner, a celebration of the journey’s beginning and a chance to bond with fellow riders.

Today, experience the thrill of riding through Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the world’s deepest canyons and a biker’s paradise. For the adventurous, an optional hike to a breathtaking steppe offers unparalleled views of the snow-capped Haba Mountain, reaching a majestic 5,396m.

Continue your journey through the dramatic landscapes of the Yangtse Canyon, conquering exhilarating mountain passes on your way to Shangri-La. The highlight of the day awaits: traversing the White Horse Pass, a breathtaking ascent to 4,290m above sea level.

Arrive in Shangri-La and immerse yourself in the rich culture of Dukezong Ancient Town, the largest and best-preserved Tibetan residential complex in China. Wander through its atmospheric streets and spin the world’s largest prayer wheel at Guishan Park, sending prayers and positive energy out into the universe.

Later, experience the tranquility of Napahai Yila Grassland, a breathtaking landscape that transforms with the seasons, from a vast marsh meadow to a serene lake. Check into your Shangri-La accommodation and remember to take it easy tonight, allowing your body to acclimatize to the altitude.

Today marks your entry into the Tibet Autonomous Region, a land of soaring peaks, ancient monasteries, and vibrant culture. Opt for the scenic Old Road 214, a route that leads you deep into the mountains to a village once isolated from the outside world. Hear the inspiring story of the villager who, against all odds, carved a path connecting his community to a wider world. Experience the thrill of crossing a wooden bridge clinging to a sheer cliff face and a glass bridge offering breathtaking views.

Continue your journey along the Jingsa River, the upper reaches of the mighty Yangtze River. Choose your path: a simpler route through a tunnel or the challenging ascent over White Horse Pass, reaching an elevation of over 5,000m. Be mesmerized by the vast expanse of snow and ice as you approach Mali Mountain, home to the unconquered peak of Kawagebo (6,740m), a sacred mountain revered by Tibetans.

About 100km drive along the river the Tibet Entry Control Station, stop for a passport, permit, local Tibet guide, itinerary, and luggage inspection to complete “entry” procedures into Tibet.

Journey to the ancient salt-making village of Yanjing in Mangkang district, a testament to centuries-old traditions. Witness the meticulous process, enjoy the magnificent scenery of the Hengduan Mountains, accompanied by high mountains, deep valleys and the surging Lancang River. After arriving in Markam, which is the southeast gateway of Tibet integrating multiple ethnic cultures, you can take a stroll around the county town and experience the unique atmosphere of this multicultural integration.

Today, embark on a journey along the legendary G318, China’s longest and most awe-inspiring highway. Spanning over 5,476km from Shanghai to the China-Nepal border, the G318 is a testament to human engineering and a showcase of nature’s grandeur. Brace yourself for a day of breathtaking ascents, winding roads, and unforgettable views. Your first challenge awaits: the Lawushan Pass, a 35km stretch reaching an elevation of 4,338m. Test your skills as you navigate the winding road, often covered in snow and ice.

Descend from the Lawushan Pass and pause at the Zhuka Bridge, marveling at its impressive span over the Lancang River (Mekong). Continue your journey, conquering the Jueba Pass (3,930m) before facing the day’s ultimate challenge: the Dongda Pass at a staggering 5,008m. The reward for your efforts? A well-deserved descent to Zogang, a charming town nestled amidst the Tibetan plateau. Take some time to explore the surrounding villages, experiencing the warmth and hospitality of the Tibetan people.

Morning: Bid farewell to Zogang and its peaceful scenery, embarking on a thrilling ride along the Lancang River (Mekong). Feel the exhilaration of riding at an altitude of 4,300m, the air thin and crisp, the views simply breathtaking.

Afternoon: After lunch, test your mettle on the Yelhasan Pass, a relatively easy climb to 4,658m. But don’t let your guard down just yet! The real adventure awaits on the descent – a heart-pumping 17km stretch featuring 99 hairpin turns as you wind your way down towards the Nujang River. Catch your breath and brace yourself for another 72 bends over 7km, finally reaching the Nujiang Bridge, a marvel of engineering clinging to the cliffside. Continue your journey, passing through Baxoi before conquering the final hurdle of the day: the Anjiula Pass at 4,325m. As evening descends, arrive at Ranwo Lake (3,960m), its serene beauty a welcome reward after a day of challenges.

Wake to the breathtaking beauty of Ranwo Lake, its jade-green waters reflecting the snow-capped peaks that surround it. Known as “goat milk lake” in Tibetan, Ranwo Lake is a place of tranquility and natural splendor. Spend the morning soaking in the views and capturing memories.

Today’s journey takes you towards Bomi, a route renowned for its majestic mountain scenery. Imagine riding through a landscape reminiscent of Switzerland, snow-capped peaks flanking you on either side, the air alive with the scent of pine and the sound of rushing water. Make a stop at the awe-inspiring Midui Glacier, one of the lowest glaciers in the world, perched at an altitude of 4,600m. Hike or opt for a horseback ride to fully experience its icy grandeur.

Today’s ride takes you alongside the Parlung Tsangpo River, a legendary waterway steeped in folklore. Listen closely as your guide shares tales of the river’s curse and the orphan who fell in love with the fish wife, the daughter of the Dragon King. As you ride, imagine the river’s power and the stories it holds. At the confluence of the Parlung Tsangpo and the Yi’Ong Tsangpo, pause at the Tongmai Bridge, a structure that was once considered the “death passage” of the G318. Rebuilt and reinforced after years of landslides and treacherous conditions, the bridge stands as a testament to human resilience.

Experience the diverse landscapes of the “Switzerland of Tibet” as you continue towards Nyingchi. Descend to a lower altitude, reveling in the lush vegetation and picturesque views. Visit the enchanting Lulang Forest, marvel at the towering peak of Namjagbarwa, and discover the many “Instagrammable” spots that make Nyingchi a photographer’s paradise. Your final challenge of the day awaits: the ascent to the Sejila Pass at an elevation of 4,559

Today’s journey takes you alongside the Nujang River, its emerald waters winding through the landscape like a silk ribbon. The air grows thinner as you approach the highest pass of your entire journey – a breathtaking ascent to 5,250m. Feel the wind whipping prayer flags as you stand amidst the clouds, the snow-capped Himalayas stretching before you in all their glory.

Experience the changing landscapes of Tibet, from verdant forests and rolling grasslands to the raw power of the plateau. After passing through a military checkpoint, you’ll get your first glimpse of Lhasa, the heart of Tibet, a city that has beckoned travelers and pilgrims for centuries.

Today, enjoy a well-deserved rest day in Lhasa, acclimatizing to the altitude and immersing yourself in the city’s spiritual and cultural riches. Explore at your own pace, choosing from iconic sites like the Potala Palace, the former residence of the Dalai Lama, and the Jokhang Temple, Tibet’s most sacred structure. Wander through the bustling Barkhor Street, a vibrant tapestry of shops, restaurants, and traditional Tibetan life. Take some time to relax, recharge, and perhaps even give your trusty motorbike a little TLC.

Leave Lhasa behind and continue your journey westward, following the course of the mighty Yarlung Tsangpo River (known as the Brahmaputra in India and Bangladesh). The air hums with anticipation as you approach the Younongla Pass, a challenging ascent to 4,534m, offering breathtaking panoramic views.

Descend into Lhatse, a small town nestled in a high-altitude valley. If time permits, make a detour to the charming town of Gyantse, home to the impressive Pelkor Monastery, the iconic Gyantse Kumbum (a multi-storied stupa), and the historic Gyangtse Fort. These architectural marvels offer a glimpse into Tibet’s rich history and artistic traditions.

A day of miracles so we will depart early!

Today is a day for fulfilling dreams! Rise early and set off towards the awe-inspiring Everest Base Camp. Prepare to be challenged as you conquer the Jiacuola Pass (5,248m) and the Jiawula Pass (5,208m), each ascent offering increasingly breathtaking views of the Himalayas. From here, board a tram that will transport you to Everest Base Camp (5,200m), the closest you can get to the roof of the world without climbing gear. Let the reality of standing in the shadow of Mount Everest, just 19 kilometers from its summit, sink in. Capture the memories with your camera, knowing you’ve witnessed something truly remarkable.

Afternoon: After an unforgettable experience, retrace your steps to Tingri, a small town that offers a glimpse into local Tibetan life. Take a leisurely stroll through its streets, soaking in the atmosphere and perhaps enjoying a cup of yak butter tea.

After breakfast, begin your journey back towards Gyantse. The ride itself is a highlight, offering stunning views of snow-capped peaks as you traverse the Gyawula Pass.

Arrive in Gyantse and delve into its cultural treasures. Visit the imposing Gyangtse Dzong Fortress, a testament to the region’s historic struggles for power. Explore the architectural wonder of Pelkhor Monastery, home to a unique blend of Tibetan Buddhist sects. Continue to the serene Baiju Monastery, nestled at the foot of Zongshan Mountain, a place where tranquility and spirituality intertwine.

Today, we bid farewell to Gyantse and embark on a breathtaking journey back to Lhasa, but not before experiencing the awe-inspiring beauty of Yamdrok-tso (Yang Lake). This sacred lake, with its crystal-clear waters reflecting the surrounding mountains, grasslands, and grazing livestock, is a sight that will stay with you forever. Feel the serenity of this spiritual place as you gaze upon the majestic Nyenchen Khangsar Holy Mountain range (7,191m) and the icy expanse of the Korola Glacier.

Our return to Lhasa will be no less spectacular. Brace yourself as we conquer the challenging Simila Pass (4,352m) and the formidable Karuola Pass (5,039m), marking our final triumphs over the mighty Himalayas.

As we dismount our trusty motorcycles for the last time, we’ll gather for a special farewell dinner – a time to reminisce about our shared experiences, the challenges we’ve overcome, and the unforgettable memories we’ve made on this epic adventure.

Each self-drive car with 4 persons/car maximum 2 persons can get Chinese driving license.

Children under 14 years old: 50% (shared bed with parent), 70% (single bed).

Additional fee for motorbike driver from 60 years old and car driver from 70 years old: 300 USD.

A refundable deposit of USD 700 per motorcycle and USD 800 per car is required.

This deposit covers potential damage to the rented vehicle caused by the renter.

Daily damage assessments will be conducted and documented by the tour leader.

Renters are responsible for covering any repair costs exceeding the deposit amount.
